Solar de Tejada - Córdoba Restaurant Review

Solar de Tejada is a restaurant located near the Plaza San Martin area of Córdoba. I know I’ve been pretty fair with my restaurants that didn’t meet my expectations but I can honestly say that this restaurant really sucks and is a tourist trap. The restaurant is located near all the iglesias and I ate here because I couldn’t really find any other place to eat in Córdoba. The food was mediocre, at best, and the service was terrible; straight terrible. You think I’m going to recommend this place? Yup, I’ll recommend for you to stay the hell away from this place.

I guess you want to hear the specifics on why this places sucks major balls and for once you’re reading me talk in true Bastardly fashion? Well, let’s start with the waitress who was not attentive, didn’t check up on us, and kind of snarled at the fact that we wanted to split an order of asado de tira. Mind you, it was a bit on the late side already so we didn’t want to eat much food either way so splitting one order was sufficient. Fast forward to after the meal and the ridiculous amount of time it took for us to receive the bill. As I already mentioned, it was on the late side of the night already and so it’s not like there was a great amount of people that she could’ve over looked us. No, we were getting no attention. Needless to say, this woman did not receive any tip from us.

On a side note, I hope this reinforces the fact that, in a non-sexist way, male servers in Argentina are far better than female servers. This was the case at Cabaña Las Lilas and La Caballeriza so I think I have a bit of an argument.

Anyways, onto the food. I swear, the cows they got their asado de tira from must have been malnourished and didn’t get enough grass fed to have really any meat. I can get more adequate short ribs from my local market compared to the crap they served us. Not to mention there wasn’t really much meat, mostly fat. So this cow must’ve been one of those skinny/fat cows like the kids you see on those Sally Struthers commercials where the kids who are hungry have a little belly but are still malnourished to hell. Yes, I had to go there to drive the point of my comparison. If I had to say something from the meal was decent, I guess the emapanadas were alright. Even the stale free bread each table gets was the worse stale free bread I’ve ever had.

So do you think I want anyone to ever go to this restaurant? Seriously, stay away from this place. It really sucks. Take the time to find another restaurant. In fact, stay away from the Plaza San Martin area because it’s all a tourist trap. There are some good restaurants a few blocks away from there but with Córdoba it’s hit or miss especially since this was the first time I’d been there. Take a mental image of the photo above if ever travelling to Córdoba and remember that this place sucks.
