The Hotel Presidente is conveniently located in the Retiro neighborhood of Buenos Aires on Av. 9 de Julio within several blocks of the Obelisco. Under normal circumstance I won’t stay at a hotel in Buenos Aires because renting an apartment is such a big market that only the untrained tourist would pay for a hotel. In this case, I had an extra night in Buenos Aires and needed to find lodging. After walking up and down Av. 9 de Julio this was the only place that had a room; and just conviently it was their version of a suite; $180 USD per night. Now it was only for one night and I had no other options so sometimes you just gotta do it.
Now, for $180 USD the suites are essentially on the top floors, in the corner and pretty much 2 standard rooms adjoined together. The bathroom is small but the bed is comfortable. However, I’d say the selling point is the view if you are fortunate enough to get the side with the Obelisco. Below you see what the view is from the room. Pretty awesome, in my opinion.

Again, as I’m not a fan of staying in a hotel when in Buenos Aires, I’ll admit that the Hotel Presidente is pretty nice. The lobby is well kept and the staff is very friendly and English-speaking. However, I will admit that the guy at the front desk did recommend La Chacra to me when I asked him for a parrilla recommendation. I’m sure that if he were to make a reserveration for me over there from the hotel that they must get some type of kickback. Atleast that’s my assumption. I ended up at Don Ernesto that night. Otherwise, if you’re the type that wants to drop serious cash per night at a hotel then I can’t see anything wrong with the Hotel Presidente for its convenient location and friendly service.
