Alfonsina is a restaurant located near Patio Olmos shopping center in Córdoba. The restaurant is small, loud, and busy; filled with a mix of locals and tourists. The menu is simple with not much of a parrilla offering. Not knowing what Córdoba had to offer in terms of restaurants I was recommended this restaurant by the employee of one of the tour guide offices. I doubt he gets any kick-backs by recommending this restaurant but he did claim that it was one of his favorite places. Without many other options, I ate here and had a simple, quick meal.

Alfonsina has nightly entertainment and seems to be a very popular spot as evident by the line of people waiting for a table after I finished my meal and exited. As I wrote earlier, the menu is simple and unless I’m interested in ordering pizza or pasta, my choices are very limited. I decided to go for a the pollo. This had to rank as one of the healthiest meals because all this dish was is a boneless chicken breast, possibly pan-fried with no marinade or topping along with a salad. Talk about healthy low-carb eating. In fact, I was given this hot sauce/paste on the side because it was so bland that I needed something to go along with it. However, I will admit that I was hungry and in a rush and that was the fastest dish they could prepare. And I could’ve ordered pizza or pasta too but I subjected myself to plain chicken and salad. However, I’ll admit the empanada was pretty decent and groups were actually ordering those by the dozen.

If you want a feel of the mix of loud locals and tourist tightly packaged in tables close enough to wear if you took a stretch your hand could be in another table then this is the place for you. The place seems like a fun atmosphere because it’s crowded with a lot of people there for the entertainment and while the service is actually pretty good for being so crowded I would have to allow myself more time to enjoy myself and order something different from plain chicken and salad.
