Rio Alba is located in the Palermo neighborhood more towards the Libertador side away from Santa Fe going towards the parks. I’d say this is a middle of the mill in terms of parrillas. I didn’t find this place to be over-priced and the service was pretty attentive even with fútbol playing on the television and all eyes focused there; both staff and clientele.

This is the place I ordered asado de tira (short ribs) for the first time in Argentina. Rio Alba does not skimp when it comes to portion on the asado de tira. I swear, I could not finish it all; come to think of it, the portion was good for 2 with leftovers. It was to the point where I was shifting pieces of meat around like how we all did as kids back when we didn’t want to finish the vegetables off our plates. There was so much food that I felt bad that I wasn’t going to finish it all. Aside from the asado de tira, Moe had the bife de lomo and with that too, no complaints. A good-sized piece of meat that was cooked jugoso (juicy, medium-rare) perfectly.

Overall it was good food that didn’t leave me bitter as with the Puerto Madero places that I’d consider visiting again. However, I’ll admit that Rio Alba doesn’t have that exceptional factor that makes it necessary for me to dine there again. I can’t say anything bad about the place but I can’t give you a reason to keep it in high esteem as I do with Don Julio. Also, I should mention that I did not see any tourists in this restaurant; a total plus in my opinion. That is probably because it is a bit tucked away from major areas of restaurants like Palermo Soho/Hollywood and Puerto Madero. Totally worth consideration for dining if in the area.
