El Trapiche is a parrilla located in the Palermo Hollywood neighborhood. We went here for lunch and I’ll have to say this place falls under the Rio Alba status. The place is pretty good but I didn’t find anything exceptional about it to make it necessary for me to go back again when there are many other restaurant choices within the Palermo Hollywood neighborhood.
The one thing that was a disappointment to this place was that they didn’t have empanadas. For me, that’s an essential part of the meal since the other parts, chorizo and bife, are shared. Nonetheless, I ordered a bife de lomo (34 pesos) to share. The portion was good enough for two people but I think that 34 pesos is a bit much but I guess that’s what you expect for being within Palermo Hollywood. The service wasn’t terrible but once again, it wasn’t anything necessarily special that I was overly impressed. In fact, we ate there around 2:30pm so the restaurant wasn’t very crowded but the waiter didn’t check up on us much unless I flagged him down. In fact, I had to wait for a bit before I even got chimichurri.
Again, this is a place I probably will not visit again. On one hand there are many restaurants within Palermo Hollywood that look like they are worth trying so no sense in going back to a place that wasn’t an exceptional experience. Also, I could just walk another 15 minutes over to Don Julio and have a meal that I know I’m going to enjoy very much if I want a parrilla.
